MERCE is a duo comprised of harpist/electronic musician Shelley Burgon and turntablist Maria Chavez. The duo performs improvised based song pieces based on loops and live processing. Merce has performed at Roulette, Issue Project Room and most recently for the Saturday Sessions at MoMA PS1 and the Stone.

Shelley Burgon is a multi-instrumentalist who is best known for her improvisational work blending an acoustic harp with a laptop in a way similar to that of traditional harp techniques. She is a member of the chamber group Ne(x)tworks, as well as the bands Stars Like Fleas and Family Dynamics, and has performed at notable performance series including the MATA Festival, Issue Project Room’s Floating Points Festival, Darmstadt, and the Whitney Museum’s Christian Marclay Festival. In May 2009, Burgon premiered a new piece for the Merce Cunningham Hudson Valley Project at Dia:Beacon. Shelley currently performs solo under the name Rowan.
